Teen files harassment charges against mom for Facebook hack
A 16-year-old in Arkansas claims his mother hacked his Facebook account, changed his password, and posted slanderous comments and personal information about him in his profile, the New York Daily News reports. His mother "claims she was just concerned about her boy's behavior" because he posted that he had driven home at 95 mph when angry at his girlfriend. The boy "lives with his grandmother after mom's nasty divorce," CBS News reports in its coverage of the story. The case could challenge the rights of parents to monitor their children online," according to the Daily News, which adds that "prosecutors won't discuss the case because it involves a minor, but indicated the case fell under the legal definition of harassment on the part of the mother."
